INTERVIEW
1) Can you tell The M.F.I.C members a little bit about yourself?
Howdy everyone!
Yes, you guessed it, I am from Texas! I grew up in a small town called Marble Falls. I am the youngest of 3 kids. At the age of 5 I began taking gymnastic classes. This was the start of my love for fitness.
In High School I was a cheerleader, Drill Team dancer and I played Volleyball for the Marble Falls Mustangs. After graduation, I moved to Houston, TX to live with my brother who was very into bodybuilding. I began training and even got my personal training certification. I was determined to figure out how to sculpt the body! BUT after a couple years of personal training, I knew how to weight train but didn’t really understand the nutrition part. SO… I still did not gain the body that I wanted!
I finally got married in 2000 to my wonderful husband whom I’ve known since 1st grade – High School. We had three babies, unfortunately my first son had heart complications during my 7th month of pregnancy and I had to have an emergency c-section. He passed away 6 days later. This was a huge tragedy in my life, but it made me stronger.
After having my third baby I was way out of shape. I was 170lbs and very unhappy! I refused to be an out of shape mother and wife and was determined to figure this thing out once and for all. I entered myself in an NPC figure competition and stepped on stage to compete just 9 months after giving birth.
I place 6th out of 12 girls, I WAS HOOKED! I'm now a National Figure Competitor, Certified Personal Trainer and spokes model for the product Kre-a-fem by All American EFX.
I'm so thankful and blessed to be where I am today. I could not have achieved all of this if it weren’t for my very sweet and supportive family. I would like to say to all the Mothers out there…..YOU CAN HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BODY after giving birth, you have to BELIEVE IN YOURSELF and make a GOAL, not an EXCUSE !!!
2) What were your initial motivations for transforming your body?
I felt very unhealthy, I had no energy to play with my kids and I hated the way I looked in clothes! I wanted to break the mold and show everyone that Mommy’s can have beautiful bodies too!;)
3) How long have you been on your program for and what kind of success have you experienced so far?
I have been seriously training for a little over 4 years now. The success I have experienced is giving my children and husband a happier mommy and wife!
I am full of energy and am loving life again… the other successes such as competing and being a spokes model has always been one of my dreams and I am very blessed to be a part of the fitness industry.
4) How has this success changed your day-to-day life for the better?
Every where I go I get asked questions about fitness and I love it because I know I am motivating people to get healthy.
5) Did you experience any setbacks along the way? If so, what were they and how did you get past them?
None, because the minute I made my mind up to change I have never looked back!
I came up with the saying "Make a Goal, not an EXCUSE" because that is what I live by, NO EXCUSES!! And with NO EXCUSES comes no SETBACKS.
6) What type of training plan has worked best for you?
I have tried many different training schedules but the one that really works for me is training ON TWO DAYS and OFF ONE, then ON TWO DAYS and OFF ONE etc…
7) What type of nutrition plan has worked best for you?
WOW, well again I have tried many, many, many different diets but ONLY one way has really given me awesome results. This may sound weird to some of you but I eat every hour and a half around 200 calories. Throughout the whole day, I drink ONE gallon of water a day and watch my carbs at dinner.
The types of foods I eat are very nutritious and clean burning. I do allow myself to have a cheat meal here and there though. My favorite cheat meal is Mexican Food and Margaritas (every now and then).
8) What muscle building and/or fat loss supplements have you used? Which ones worked for you and which ones didn’t?
A little story...I used to manage a GNC (general nutrition store) for a couple years and during this time I experimented with a lot of supplements to try and weed out the bad supplements, so I could honestly tell my customers which supplements really worked.
Anyway, in all honesty the only supplements that seemed to be worth anything, was a regular multivitamin; everything else came with side effects UNTIL… I found Kre-a-fem. I have never found a company like All American EFX. They are very honest people to work for and their passion is to sincerely help athletes stay drug free. I have been taking their products for over 2 ½ years and I am just amazed at the results! I totally trust and believe in their products; All American EFX is all I use now.
9) What are your future fitness goals?
I will be competing again Oct. 24th-26th in L.A. through FMI (Fitness Model International).
10) What are the top 3 tips you would give to others who are interested in beginning a muscle building and/or fat burning program?
TIP 1. Consistency is the KEY (stay consistent with your workout and eating plan)
TIP 2. There is no MAGIC pill (you must apply yourself to achieve REAL results)
TIP 3. Read and learn as much as you can about the proper way to train
