INTERVIEW
1) Can you tell The M.F.I.C members a little bit about yourself?
I am a mother of two wonderful kids. I have a 17 year old and a 3 month old baby. Just a small difference in age. I work a 40 hour week and still find time to devote to my family and my training. My heart and soul have always been in Health and Fitness. Nutrition and fitness are top priorities in my life. I hope that my kids will follow suit.
2) What were your initial motivations for transforming your body?
I was training in the gym every day, but I was still nowhere near where I thought I should be. I felt that despite all of my efforts I didn't even LOOK like I worked out in the gym. It was not until I followed a strict diet, increased my cardio that I started to amaze myself with the results.
3) How long have you been on your program for and what kind of success have you experienced so far?
Since I made this a lifestyle change I have been able to not only keep in shape but maintain a healthy lifestyle while I was pregnant. It helped make the whole process of pregnancy an enjoyable experience. I was able to return to my pre-pregnancy shape in three short weeks following delivery of my baby.
4) How has this success changed your day-to-day life for the better?
Well, here I stand, at 33 and in the best shape of my life. I know that there are even more improvements out there for me. Due to my solid health and fitness foundation, I’m able to continually challenge my body as I get older. The older I get, the more in tune I am with my body. I want to live as an example that it is possible to take care of your body and mind in this busy world that seems to facilitate low standards for health and quality of life.
5) Did you experience any setbacks along the way? If so, what were they and how did you get past them?
I realized that making a lifestyle change does not happen over night. Once I started eating five to six times a day I started to see the scale go up at first. After a few weeks following my diet I noticed the scale was going down and my jeans where fitting a lot better.
6) What type of training plan has worked best for you?
I have found that doing weights three to four times a week and cardio six days a week has worked best for me.
7) What type of nutrition plan has worked best for you?
I follow a very simple diet and I pretty much eat the same thing every day. That’s how I like it. I eat around the clock and any where from five to six meals a day.
8) What muscle building and/or fat loss supplements have you used? Which ones worked for you and which ones didn’t?
I use Dymatize Elite Oats in the morning for the added protein. If I do not have time to make a protein shake (HDT ProBlend55) then I will have a Pure Protein Bar. I like these meal replacements for the added protein to build and retain muscle.
9) What are your future fitness goals?
My short term goal is to achieve a “CHISELED TUMMY”. Long term goal is to compete in a local Figure Show here in Colorado.
10) What advice would you give to others who are interested in beginning a muscle building and/or fat burning program?
It’s possible to have a career and a family and still achieve the fitness goals they desire. Focus on the journey, not the destination!
